Dispatcher in Need of Support

DEAR 911 CARES,

I am a current 911 dispatcher with 13 years of service with the City of Memphis Police Department. My co-worker Morris Van Buren has been a dispatcher with us for over 3 years. I have only known Mr. “Mo” (what everyone calls him in the office) for a short amount time but he has made a great impression on everyone on the floor. He is a father and a caring husband. He loves to work puzzles, draw, listen to music and spend time with his family. He is 55 years old and has 3 kids that are currently living with him. His lovely wife Sandra is one of the kindest people you will ever meet. He is a fatherly figure throughout the call center, who is always pleasant and never complains. One would never know that he has a pacemaker and that one of his children has special needs. Mr. Mo is in need of our thoughts and prayers.

On June 28, he suddenly lost his brother with whom he was very close. He returned to work for a few weeks and on July 25, he suffered a stroke. He spent 8 days in the hospital and has returned a couple of times since then. The doctors have determined that his heart is functioning at only 25 percent. Last week, he starting having mini seizures and the doctors don’t know what is causing them. He has an enormous hospital bill which adds to the financial burden he has at this time.

Mr. Mo has exhausted all of his benefit time and has no income coming in. Even though he has insurance, with no income he is in jeopardy of losing it if it is not paid bi-weekly. It would be greatly appreciated if any donations could be made to assist Mr. Mo and his family.

Please request cards and prayers for Mr. Mo. He would greatly appreciate it and would love to hear from our fellow dispatchers!!!

Cards can be sent to, Morris Van Buren at 4789 Allrand Rd, Memphis, TN 38118.

Donations: checks may be sent directly to Mr. Mo at the above address or to PRD Patricia Wright, Memphis Police Department Communications 201 Poplar Ave RM #12-25, Memphis, TN 38103.
