Request for cards, letters and financial support for a Kansas Dispatcher.
Do what you can to help a fellow dispatcher.

Melanie Hasselman is a Shawnee County dispatcher, answering 911 calls every day, now she's calling on the community.

Her husband Greg was born with a severe heart defect, and his failing heart has taken it's toll on the rest of his body. Doctors say only a rare procedure will save Greg's life -- a new heart and a new liver, from the same donor at the same time.

The couple's insurance company may only cover a Single organ transplant, and even if they do agree to both organs, the couple still needs to raise about $100 thousand for out of pocket costs. They say it's a small price for Greg's life.??

Cards and letters may be sent to:
Shawnee County Emergency Communications - Attn Melanie Hasselman
320 S Kansas Ave, Topeka KS 66603

If you'd like to help, send contributions to:
The Greg Hasselman Fund
C/O The Topeka Police Credit Union
320 S. Kansas, Ste #100
Topeka, KS 66603

You can also make an online donation via any credit card or via PAYPAL if you DONATE HERE. Donations made between today and August 1st will be matched up to a $500 maximum so donate now while you are thinking about it. Pass the hat around the dispatch center and see what you come up with!

The family is also holding a fundraiser at Red Robin. From 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on August 4th, 10 percent of all proceeds will go to helping the Hasselmans.
