Dispatcher Loses Home to Fire

On Monday, June 20th at 3:45 am, a fire swept through the home of New Kent Sheriff's Office Dispatcher Joyce Crawford. Joyce is a 12 year veteran of the department. The fire destroyed the home that Joyce shares with her husband, daughter and 5 year old grandson. The family lost everything in the fire, including a car that was in the attached garage. The family has received clothes from the community. Dispatchers from the sheriff's office have been taking up some monetary donation to help them find another place to rent and a car to rent. The family did not have renters insurance so they are starting from scratch.
