Leavenworth (KS) Dispatcher's Wife's Freak Accident

Leavenworth, Kansas was hammered by a severe storm, 2 consecutive nights in a row. The city sustained substantial damage by the high winds. As a result of the first storm Jim’s wife was critically injured in a freak accident; while they were cleaning up from the first storm that had rolled through, Jim and his wife Sara were down to the last limb/branch and while Sara was standing clear from the tree another limb/branch broke from the tree. A part of the branch broke off, hitting Sara in the face and went up through her eye socket, through her sinus cavity up into her skull and impaled her brain.

Recently employed by the Leavenworth County Sheriff’s Department, Jim has been with the department for 4 months. As of this time Sara is not employed and does not have medical insurance and has undergone one neurosurgery.
