Smith County (TX) Communications Supervisor Delivers Early

Dear 911 Cares,

Jessica Williams, who is a Communications Supervisor for the Smith County Sheriff’s Department in Tyler, Texas gave birth to a baby girl this morning at only 28 weeks. Baby Madison only weighs 1 lb 15 oz but I’m glad to say, is actually breathing on her own. Jessica required emergency surgery after unexpected complications due to high blood pressure which threatened the health of both mom and unborn baby. This is Jessica’s first child. She has dreamed of having children for a few years and at 30, finally made that dream a reality. Having known Jessica for a couple of years now, (she has been a 911 dispatcher for 7 yrs) I can tell you she is a very kind, warm, loving, compassionate and funny person. She is the kind of dispatcher/employee/friend you cherish at your agency. Just this last Christmas she personally covered my shift, allowing me to spend a full 10 days off with my family. Jessica is one of the first to step forward with a possible solution to any problem thrown her way. She always has a smile on her face, laughs easily and enjoys life. Her husband, Ed, is a retired law enforcement officer who now works with parolees in a halfway home. They have been married for 2 years now but have actually been together for over 8 years.

Jessica does have insurance through our agency but due to where she had to have baby Madison (a non network provider) insurance won’t cover the majority of the costs. She only has 160 hrs of available leave time saved up and with this unexpected immediate situation, that time will run out way sooner than needed. With the long road ahead, the Williams’ family is in need of any and all possible assistance afforded them. They were not prepared for the early delivery and haven’t even purchased any items due to having not known the sex until today plus her baby shower was planned for February 24th. Prayers, donations or anything that is required with taking care of a newborn, especially a newborn with special needs, would be greatly appreciated!
