Passing of a Norman Police (OK) Dispatcher

Last night one our own passed unexpectedly. Erica Carpenter was 34 years old and a single mom of two girls, ages 13 and 6. She was a very active mom, as her girls are involved in FFA and the oldest one was on a traveling softball team. She loved to crochet and spend time with her girls. Erica was training for a marathon and also a full-time student. She was attending college in order to further her public service career.

Erica was loved among her co-workers and always willing to lend a hand on a professional or personal front. She had been with the Norman Communications Division for almost 9 years. She was one of our premier training officers and filled in for supervisors when the need arose. She was well respected by her peers and public safety responders for her dispatching abilities. Some of Erica’s most redeeming qualities were her sense of humor, her ability to make people laugh, and she always had a good time no matter what she was doing. She loved life, she loved her family and she loved her friends. She will be greatly missed by all those she touched in this life.
