Passing of Longtime UC Riverside Police Dispatcher Ed Kerley

Most people in our department knew Ed as an extraordinary dispatcher, supervisor, and mentor. He was affectionately called “Commander Kerley” because he ran the Communication Center with efficiency and structure. He was a fascinating man whose interest and passions ranged from radios to competitive cowboy shooting. As a supervisor, he was no nonsense, direct, yet funny, and always encouraging.

We lost Ed on Tuesday after a courageous 8 month battle with cancer. Please let his friends at 9-1-1 CARES know what a wonderful man he was and how much he loved the world of dispatching.
