Death of a GA Dispatcher's Child

Dear 911 Cares,

My name is Amanda Maddox and I’m the Training Supervisor for Henry County Emergency Communications 9-1-1. Recently we had a death of a dispatchers child.

On February 3, 2011 baby Kyson Lamar White was born to Amanda McMichael (9-1-1 Dispatcher) by an emergency c-section because his little heart rate had dropped. When he was born he weighed only 1 pound 14 ounces and 13 inches long. He was admitted into the NICU at Henry Medical Center and stayed there for a little less than 3 weeks. On February 24th, he was transferred to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston for a surgical observation. When he arrived there, they almost immediately went into surgery to check the extent of an infection that he had been fighting since the 21st. Once they got into his little belly they found that he had Necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) which is where the intestines dies. Once they found that all of his intestines were damaged they closed his belly and made him comfortable. They then came to speak with Amanda and told her that it wasn’t good and that there was nothing they could do that would be survivable. Little Kyson passed away on February 24th at 11:50 p.m.

All that we are asking is to keep Amanda and her daughter Layla and their families in your prayers. There has been a memorial fund set up at any McIntosh State Bank in Kyson’s name or Amanda’s name if anyone would like to donate.

Send cards or letters to me and I’ll make sure she receives them:

Thanks so much in advance
