Loss of a Cherokee County (IA) Dispatcher It is with great sadness that we make you aware of the death of a 32 year old dispatcher from Iowa. Agencies in Iowa received word today that a Alisha Droegmiller of Cherokee County passed away yesterday after a long battle with cancer- she was only 32 years old- married with 2 kids. Cherokee County is one of those small dispatch centers in the heart of Iowa- Anything you could do for them I'm sure would be greatly appreciated.
Here is the 911 CARES Activation from 2010: Cherokee County (IA) Dispatcher Needs Support after Third Cancer Battle Dear 911CARES, Alisha Droegmiller is a young mother from Holstein, Iowa. She and her husband, Dan, have two children, Cloe, who is 10 years old and Jaden, who is 8 years old. Alisha was first diagnosed with melanoma while pregnant with her son Jaden. She had the cancerous spot removed and was in remission. Alisha’s cancer returned in 2007 with spots on her liver. Alisha courageously fought that battle as well and was able to return to work. Alisha was hired as a 911 dispatcher in Cherokee County in the spring of 2009. She is a valuable and respected employee. Alisha has a very strong faith in God and she enthusiastically shares her faith. Her life is a testament to her faith and she daily gives thanks to God even in the midst of these troubles. We have all been touched and changed for the better by knowing Alisha and count it as a privilege to be by her side at this time. Support in any form would be appreciated.
