Tennessee Flood Update
Donate via PayPal or send supplies. May 11, 2010

We are working together with the Tennessee Chapter of NENA to coordinate efforts to offer donations, supplies and prayers for the many dispatchers in TN that lost homes and property during the recent floods in TN. Many of you may not be aware that 50 counties were declared disaster areas. Nashville Metro was our first area of concern but we have learned there are many more in need of your help. You can make supply and monetary donations by visiting www.tena911.org or contacting the people below. I have listed a note from the TENA President and a follow-up note from Nashville Metro. Thanks SO much for your initial help. More help is needed and we appreciate anything you do! See below

911 CARES,

I would like to thank everyone for the out pouring of kindness and support to the Metro Nashville Emergency Communication Center. We’ve received a huge response from our fellow 911 Public Safety families. Your donations helped our employees  who are flood victims a great deal. Two of our employees received major damage to their homes. Another employee who is pregnant also received major damage to the home she was living in also.   She lost a lot of household items; we will be giving her another baby shower to replace some of the items that were lost during the flood. Many other employees received medium  damages to their residences but they will be fine and they know they are blessed. With the help of so many, we were able to put all of the resources together to help give immediate relief to the Nashville employees. At this time, we are asking everyone to turn their attention to other 911 agencies who have experienced huge losses.  It was brought to my attention that Hickman County and Cheatham County were affected greatly; I’ve included their contact information below.

Kevin, thank you so much for PSTC911. The site really got the word out really fast. This experience has really taught me to remember to encourage my employees to help during these activations.
