Veteran Mentor (OH) Dispatcher in Need

911 CARES,

My name is Faith Powalie and I'm a dispatcher for Mentor Police Department. I attended a class with you a year or two ago and you had mentioned 911 Cares. We are in need of some help. Jackie Harless, 25year veteran of Mentor Dispatch, had been diagnosed with pancreatic and lung cancer this past week. It is Stage 4 and inoperable. She has been given 6 months if she does chemo. This is a crushing blow to our center. We have had a tough year. In May I lost my first child at 23weeks pregnant. My co-workers were there for me and I want to be here for Jackie. We are quickly getting a fund raiser together in two weeks to raise money for her family. She has outstanding bills that she is unable to pay. I didn't know what anyone can do but prayers are appreciated at this time. Never in a million years did any of us think we would need your service but here we are. I thank you for any and all thoughts in this manner.

We are having a spaghetti dinner funraiser on Friday February 12th at the Mentor Senior Center 8484 Munson Rd  5:30p-10:00  We are trying to get donations together for a chinese auction and we will be having a 50/50 raffle as well. This is still getting finalized with a cost but it's looking to be $20 a ticket. This is a very aggressive cancer thus the rush for the dinner. All cards and well wishes will be presented to her at the dinner on the 12th.

Thank you ...on both. If it's easier, all cards and donations can be sent here to the dispatch center: (Checks to Jackie Harless)
