Cherokee County (IA) Dispatcher Needs Support after Third Cancer Battle Dear 911CARES, Alisha Droegmiller is a young mother from Holstein, Iowa. She and her husband, Dan, have two children, Cloe, who is 10 years old and Jaden, who is 8 years old. Alisha was first diagnosed with melanoma while pregnant with her son Jaden. She had the cancerous spot removed and was in remission. Alisha’s cancer returned in 2007 with spots on her liver. Alisha courageously fought that battle as well and was able to return to work. Alisha was hired as a 911 dispatcher in Cherokee County in the spring of 2009. She is a valuable and respected employee. Alisha became violently ill while at work at the beginning of August 2010. The on duty jailer called the ambulance out for her care. She was diagnosed with tumors on her brain, lungs, and a kidney. Alisha attempted treatment for the tumors but became very ill from the treatment. It is not expected that she will be able to return to work. Alisha has a very strong faith in God and she enthusiastically shares her faith. Her life is a testament to her faith and she daily gives thanks to God even in the midst of these troubles. We have all been touched and changed for the better by knowing Alisha and count it as a privilege to be by her side at this time. Support in any form would be appreciated.
