Terry Willard Memorial Fund
Michele Willard (above) has been a dispatcher with the Bland County, Virginia Sheriff Office for 14 years. On August 13, 2009 Michele’s husband, Terry Willard died unexpectedly of a heart attack. Terry, who was 37 years old, leaves behind his wife and a two year old daughter. He had no life insurance, leaving Michele the expenses of the funeral, as well as caring for her daughter.
Michele, as so many in Virginia, is funded through the Virginia Compensation Board. Regrettably, the Compensation Board provides a very minimal salary to the local Sheriff Office. As a result, we have established the “Terry Willard Memorial Fund” to assist Michele with the many expenses she must face.
