Green Acres (FL) Dispatcher in Need of Blood Donations

Dear 911 CARES,

First let me commend all my fellow Telecommunicators for the thankless job that you do, day in day out and know that you are an essential component of Public Safety.   In 2004 Tammy Gerometta received a “new heart” and returned to work after just a few months.  In 2005 she became a cancer survivor and worked through the entire recovery.  In 2005 the Palm Beach Post featured her as one of our local hero’s.  When the reporter asked her “How would you like to be remembered” she replied “As happy, and helping”.  She said the best part of her job was reassuring people by letting them know help was on the way.  We just learned that Tammy is now battling a rare blood disorder called Evan’s Syndrome, essentially where the body turns on itself and red blood cells attack white cells in the body.  She is currently in ICU and is medically sedated.  The family is desperately seeking blood donations, specifically for platelet and red blood cells.  Her account number at our local Blood Bank is 1889316.  Donations to that account will directly benefit her.  Let’s help the special person who’s main goal in life is to help others!

Tammy Gerometta started with our agency, Greenacres Dept. of Public Safety in 1992.  She  is currently at Jackson Memorial, Miami in ICU and hasn’t been awake in days. She has contracted a rare blood disorder called Evan’s Syndrome.  Her family has set up an account at our local blood bank and  is requesting blood and platelet donations.  All that is needed to donate is to provide her account number 1889316.  You can donate nationwide at any blood donation facility. Take this e-mail with you just in case they need to match the recipients name and account number.

Due to her current condition, Tammy is not able to receive cards or notes of encouragement.
