Redwood City, CA Kathy Repp's Granddaughters Update Dear 911 CARES, Last Thursday I attended a meeting with my daughter and one of Jocelyn's doctors. We were told Jocelyn needs a heart transplant. She has a 20 percent chance of survival if she does not get one. One thing I did not know that her doctor told us is that this will be a lifelong thing for Jocelyn. The average lifespan of a transplanted heart is 15 years, this will not be the only transplant Jocelyn will need. Jocelyn is still at Children's Hospital in Washington DC. She will be transferred over to Johns Hopkins sometime this week to be evaluated by their heart transplant team (they do not do heart transplants at Children's Hospital at this time) and be placed on the heart transplant list. We don't know if she will be able to come home while she waits on a new heart. We held a fundraiser on Sunday. We were able to raise over $3000 for Jocelyn. This will help Kristin immensely. My next goal is to contact anyone I can to try to collect money to buy her a reliable vehicle to take Jocelyn up and down the road to her many doctor visits before, during and after her heart transplant. The vehicle Kristin currently owns is older and only good for local trips as it tends to break down periodically. She has used my van over the past few months for her transportation back and forth to Washington DC. My van however, has almost 140,000 miles on it and I'm not sure how many more miles it is good for. If additional info or contact info is needed, you can contact Director Woods or Sarah Faith who put this in motion. Return to Top 9-1-1 CARES
