Redwood City, CA Cindy Gillam, Texas City DPS, Needs Our Support I am writing an update for an activation for Cindy Gillam. Cindy has been fighting cancer, and she had finally beaten the cancer and returned to work at Texas City DPS full time, even after riding out Hurricane Ike and having her roof replaced. Last Sunday, she was taking a step, heard a pop, her leg gave out, and she fell. Her femur bone broke from the radiation damage and from an infection in the bone. They are projecting at least one more surgery for her, and the doctors are not sure when she would be able to return to work at this point. Cindy has about two weeks leave before she has to switch to long-term disability; she has already used her sick leave bank for her cancer treatment. Once she is on long-term disability, the majority of that check will cover her health insurance only, not her and her family's living expenses. Her husband's check, a correctional deputy with Galveston County Sheriff's Office, will not cover all their expenses. If anyone is able to provide any assistance, please feel free to contact me, 911 Cares, or Darla Ross, her supervisor, at Texas City DPS. Thank you for any and all assistance!
