I submitted a request for a "9-1-1 Cares" activation in April, 2007, for Rachel Lyn Angelo, a Police Dispatcher with the Bakersfield Police Department. At that time she was undergoing treatment for her second occurrence of leukemia. She eventually received a bone marrow transplant in July, 2007. Over the course of the next several months she continued treatment and on April 28, 2008, she returned to our Comm Center to work 4-hour days. Unfortunately, that is not where the story ends.
On Wednesday, June 4, 2008, Rachel was admitted to the hospital where tests revealed a lesion on her spine and one on her brain. On Monday, June 9, 2008, we received the horrible news that it is cancer, it is inoperable, and the prognosis is dire. Please reactivate her posting and include this update.
We ask that everyone keep Rachel and her family in their thoughts and prayers. Cards of encouragement can be sent to my attention and I will ensure their delivery to Rachel and her family.
