SIU Carbondale (IL) Dispatcher Loses Home and Family Pets to House Fire
They say everything happens for a reason. However the SIU Police Dispatchers are having a hard time figuring what the reason was for a fire that broke out at a co-workers home today. This fire happened to the one person in our COMM center that is always on top of making sure we send out cards and needed donations. She has never balked at the smallest request if she thought we could help. This afternoon around 4pm, Southern Illinois University Carbondale Police Dispatcher Nela Miller’s house burnt to the ground. Nela was just starting her shift when her daughter called her to give her the sad news that her home and everything in it was gone including the family pets. Thankfully, her daughter was at grandma’s house next door when the fire broke out. At this time, the immediate need is for woman’s clothing Size 16 pant and Large or Extra Large Shirts. Anyone wanting to make contributions or send a care package to help out Nela can drop them off or ship them to:
At this time I do not have a bank account set up for Nela so if you want or must send money please make it in the form of a Wal-Mart or Target gift card. Point of Contact is Eric Smith 618-889-5655 or email erics@dps.siu.edu Thank You |
