Veteran Dispatcher Dies Suddenly
Support Needed for Pueblo Police Department We are requesting a 911 Cares activation on behalf of our sister agency the Pueblo Police Department here in Pueblo, Colorado. Nancy Cranmer age 57 had been a dispatcher with the Pueblo Police Department for 14 years. She passed away unexpectedly on the night of November 28th, 2008. Nancy had just finished her shift about 2000 that night and was driving when she reportedly lost control of her vehicle and crossed the lanes of traffic coming to rest on the sidewalk in front of a church. Fire and medical responded to the scene and found Nancy unresponsive. They attempted to revive her on scene without success. Nancy was pronounced dead at a local hospital. Nancy had been a well respected dispatcher that a lot of people looked up to. She was kind and willing to help out with anything and everything. Dispatchers with her agency described her as a “selfless person, who would always put others before herself”. Nancy had 2 grown children and 4 grandchildren. She was very active in her church and played the church organ. She was a very spiritual person. This has stunned the Pueblo Police Department's Dispatch center as well as the entire agency. The Pueblo County Sheriffs Office is deeply saddened for their loss. Any kind words to either their dispatch center or to Nancy’s family would be greatly appreciated to let them know how much the 911 community cares and we are all here for them. Best mailing address would be:
Thank you very much for your consideration in this matter. Our communications center is doing what we can for them including working their communications center during the funeral so that all of their dispatchers may attend. We were told that financial assistance was not needed, so we thought that cards, notes or letters would let their dispatch center know that other agencies are thinking of them and have them in their thoughts and prayers. I am also attaching a news paper article that appeared in our local news paper “The Pueblo Chieftain”. If you have any specific questions regarding the activation feel free to contact me at the Pueblo County Sheriffs Office Communications Center at 719-583-6250 or my email. Thanks so much. Warmly,
