Redwood City, CA Palm Beach Gardens Works to Honor Dispatcher Lisa Raye Peralta was a very dedicated dispatcher for the city of Palm Beach Gardens for 8 years. She has 3 adult children living in Kansas and a wonderful Columbian husband of 4 years with a step son. 5 years ago she was diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer called Synovial Sarcoma and had major surgery to remove the tumor on part of her rib cage. 4 years ago the cancer returned and metastasized. Lisa went through years of chemotherapy and radiation treatments. When the doctors told her there was nothing more they could do she volunteered for experimental treatments so they could learn from her very rare condition. Last week Lisa was working and felt ill. The doctors discovered the cancer had spread again and she was given 2 weeks to live. Lisa so loved her job that she sent hospice away and said that if she only had 2 weeks left to live she would go back to work for a week. Lisa had incredible strength but her poor ravaged body departed this life just 6 short days later. A major concern of Lisa’s was for her husband and son. She was the primary bread winner and assisted her husband and son in becoming American citizens. Without Lisa’s paycheck they are struggling. She did have insurance benefits but the processing can take 6-8 weeks. We are endeavoring to honor Lisa’s commitment to her family. Any assistance would be gratefully appreciated.
