Laurie Klein in Need of Support

Laurie Klein is an Assistant Supervisor and has been with Lancaster County (PA) 9-1-1 for 18 years. Laurie is well respected by all staff members for her strong work ethic and ability to remain calm under pressure. Laurie’s daughter Kasey and her sister Joy, also work with us. Being a member of this family is an excellent reference thanks to Laurie’s reputation.

Laurie was diagnosed with breast cancer 7 months ago. True to her character she didn’t want anyone to know because she didn’t want the attention. Laurie has managed to maintain her sense of humor throughout the grueling process of chemo. She was scheduled to begin radiation therapy this past Tuesday when she received word that her youngest child, Brandon, age 22 may have been killed.

Brandon was electrocuted and due to the extent of his injuries, positive identification was difficult. Laurie and her family had to wait more than 12 hours for confirmation of Brandon’s death. Losing a child is never easy, losing a child while undergoing measures to save your own life is a sad irony.

Brandon had no insurance and Laurie is taking on the funeral expenses herself. In addition to everything else going on in her life, Laurie recently accepted custody of her two granddaughters due to their mother enlisting in the army.

Laurie is a strong and proud woman who would never ask for assistance so we are doing it for her.
