911 Dispatcher Killed in Head-On Collision
Brownsville, TX

Ernesto Fuente, a 9-1-1 Dispatcher with Cameron County Sheriff's Office was killed when a drunk driver hit him this weekend. The suspect is in custody.

His co workers tell NEWSCHANNEL 5 they'll keep De La Fuente's memory close to their hearts. Esmeralda Polak says, "We decided to make buttons in memory of him. We will wear it at the funeral to keep him alive and we just decided this to keep him with us."

Driver Charged With Intoxication Manslaughter

BROWNSVILLE - A head-on crash in Brownsville killed a 911 dispatcher from the Cameron County Sheriff's Department. Police say the man responsible was drunk. Jose Olguin was formally charged with intoxication manslaughter. We've learned Olguin was headed south on Old Port Isabel Road and tried to pass a car. That's when he crashed into a motorcycle. The driver was Ernesto Dela Fuente. He worked as a sheriff's department dispatcher. Olguin's bond has been set at $150,000.
