New York Dispatcher LOSES HOME TO FIRE!

A note from Kevin at 911 CARES: You may remember a flood 2 years ago in Broome County, NY. Many Michigan dispatchers may remember this one well as you guys filled a trailor and got both clothing and pet food to the many dispatchers that lost their homes in that tragedy. Read the news story below and then see how you can help. We are again asking for help for Dispatcher Gary Lowe at Broome County. I'm sure he would love ANYTHING you send.

DICKINSON, N.Y. (AP) - Dixie is one lucky dog.

The 7-year-old Lhasa apso survived a disaster  February 4, 2008 for the second time in two years.

Dixie - owned by Broome County 9-1-1 dispatcher Gary Lowe - barely escaped a fire in Lowe's home.

Lowe says when firefighters handed Dixie out a window to him, she was limp. Then emergency workers who responded to the fire gave her oxygen and performed CPR, amazingly she woke up.

In June 2006, as Lowe dispatched crews to flood areas from Broome County's 9-1-1 center, Dixie was trapped while Lowe'sown home was flooding.

Neighbors believed Dixie was dead, but Lowe says she managed to survive by treading water and then standing on cabinets and other places that were out of reach of the rising flood.
