Lynn Casey
Nashville, TN.
It is with great sorrow that we notify you of a great loss to the 9-1-1 profession. Lynn Casey of Nashville 9-1-1 died Tuesday, January 2nd. She survived routine surgery only to be taken in her sleep after complications of the surgery arose. Though the exact cause of death isn't known as of the time of this writing, we do know what a loss it will be to the Casey family, her friends, Nashville Communications and the 9-1-1 profession. Lynn was just 51 years old and this death comes as a shock to many.
For those of you that don't know Lynn, she was a tireless advocate for 9-1-1. She was an ENP through NENA, a past board member with both NENA and APCO and was often part of the organizing committee or committee chair for conferences in Tennessee. Lynn is partly responsible for the success of 911 CARES and PSTC in Tennessee. She rallied support for classes in both Nashville and classes we taught to help fund-raise money for the Tennessee APCO chapter as they prepared for the APCO National conference in Nashville. She was also a very hard worker with Tennessee NENA. She has served on the NENA institute and received numerous awards and recognition for her work.
Please keep her friends in your prayers and send a card or note to Nashville Metro 9-1-1. (2060 15th Ave S - Nashville TN 37212)She has many dear friends there. Many of them sent me e-mails or made calls to me during this difficult week. This is a snippet from one:
"I don't exactly remember, but I believe she was instrumental in introducing PSTC to us for the very first time; a very good decision! She served for 32+ years and was at work just last week. She literally gave her life to Public Safety Communications. I just wanted you to know of her passing and ask for assistance in getting the word out. She was a part of so many organizations nationwide as well as the southeast and was very well liked. Thanks in advance"
We ask that you share your thoughts and support. The Tennessee NENA Chapter has set up a special online guestbook.
