From Lynn Bowler
Elk Grove (CA) Police Department

911 CARES,

Thank you.  Those two words now seem to be an inadequate expression of the gratitude we feel for the prayers, compassion and support that as been given our family in the last several weeks.

Our world was literally shattered when Andrea passed away so suddenly and unexpectedly.  In the midst of trying to cope with our shock and grief, we found ourselves thrust into the chaotic world of details, decisions and deadlines.  At many times we felt lost and overwhelmed.  God’s grace and the compassion of our many Dispatch/911 friends have helped to sustain us during this tragedy.    The many cards and donations we received from 911Cares assisted us in many ways.  We so appreciate the generosity and tender care that has been showered upon us.

We are comforted by a Bible passage which reads, “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted”.  We know from this and other passages that we are not promised a life free from pain and tragedy.  And while there are no hugs, phone calls or flowers, meals or visits that can relieve the great burden of sorrow we bear, we want you to know that your efforts were not and are not in vain.  We appreciate…deeply….every hand that has reached out to us.

Though our days continue to be difficult and the anguish of our loss is often overwhelming, we do take tender consolation in knowing that our dear child is with our Lord Jesus Christ and that we will, someday, be reunited with her.  Until that day, we will mourn our loss, cherishing the precious memories of our time with Andrea, comforted by God’s grace and promises, and the generous comfort and compassion that has been so lovingly showered upon us.

Most sincerely and respectfully,
Mike, Lynn and Shelby Bowler

911 CARES ,

I am requesting a 911 CARES Activation for Lynn and Mike Bowler. Lynn is the Support Services Manager for the Elk Grove Police Department.  Mike is an IT person for Yolo County Communications. Mother’s Day weekend, Lynn and Mike's 12 year old daughter Andrea was discovered at the bottom of their swimming pool  Efforts to revive her were unsuccessful.  I’m hoping donations can be collected through 911 CARES and sent to Lynn to offset the cost of funeral expenses.  To my knowledge, nothing is being done to help the family during this tragic time and as dispatchers rally together, I am hoping to call in their support.

Funeral Services will be at the First Baptist Church of Elk Grove, 8939 East Stockton Blvd , Elk Grove on Friday, May 18th at 10 a.m.  A scholarship fund has been established in Andrea’s name through the church.  The funds will be used to send children to Hume Lake (summer camp) who would otherwise not be able to go.

Lynn has worked for the Communication Centers of Fresno Police Department and Folsom Police Department.  She has a lot of friends and is highly respected in the industry.  Those wishing to make a donation to help Lynn and Mike with funeral costs can make it directly to 911 CARES.  Cards may be sent to Lynn Bowler, Support Services Manager, Elk Grove Police Department, 8400 Laguna Palms Way, Elk Grove, CA 95758
