McFadden Family Needs Our Help

1)  Checks and donations can be made at any Wachovia Bank Branch to the savings account of Joshua J McFadden with Date of Birth June 1, 2007, or they can be sent in his name to my parents address of:

Joshua Joseph McFadden / The McFadden Family / Etc.
2841 4th St NE
Naples, FL  34120

This is the best address I can think of because my mom is in very close contact with us and has routinely been bringing us our mail, important documents, etc.  Any checks or donations sent to this address will reach us and will be deposited into Joshua's savings account.

2)  I think the best address for cards or words of encouragement would also be my parents address listed above.  The best email address is Reuhlt19@aol.com

3)  We have made a pretty amazing and well informative website, as you are all familiar with.  If desired, anyone and everyone can also freely add comments, words or encouragement, etc. to the websites guestbook area too.  I believe you can just type http://www.babyhomepages.net/littlesurvivor into the internet address box.  That should pull it right up.  If not, like you said in your previous email, you can go to http://www.babyhomepages.net and do a search for littlesurvivor.

Thank you so much for organizing this for us.  Make sure you extend our greatest appreciation to Kevin and everyone else involved for their thoughts, kindness and concern.  This has definitely been the greatest ordeal Nicholas and I have experienced.  It is very difficult because it does not seem to end, but we are very fortunate to have such great support from strong family and friends like you all.  Thanks again,

Melanie, Nicholas and our miracle boy Joshua!

McFadden Family Needs Our Help

Kevin,

I am the Training Coordinator for Collier County Sheriff’s Office in Naples, Fl.  Two of our dispatchers, Nick and Melanie McFadden, met, fell in love, got married and started a family.  We were all very excited about the thought of having a new baby in the Comm Center family.  Melanie was due to deliver in September, however, health issues forced the premature birth of tiny Joshua McFadden.  This little angel was born on June 1, 2007 and weighed a mere 1lb,7oz and measured 12.5 inches (barely longer than a standard ruler).  It is a miracle in itself that Joshua has made it this far.  He has had multiple blood transfusions, open heart surgery, a perforated bowel which required surgery, a damaged liver and is on a ventilator.  Last week little Joshua had a major setback.  All his major organs shut down and his stomach just stopped working.  Still he fought and seems to have made it through another crisis.  His weight has gone to over five pounds, however, the family has been told it is mostly fluid retention due to his damaged liver and lungs.  Nick told us yesterday Little Joshua’s organs are functioning, but his stomach is still shut down.  In addition, Melanie’s health continued to decline after giving birth.  She lost sight in one eye due to extremely high blood pressure.  Whether or not her sight returns remains to be seen and she is still battling to maintain her own health.

Needless to say the medical bills are piling up.  Both Melanie and Nick have exhausted every bit of their sick leave and vacation time.  Fellow dispatchers in the agency have had a big yard sale and generously donated the $1800 to the family.  We are constantly thinking of ways to help get a few dollars together to help, but, as you can imagine, all this has barely touched the tip of the iceberg in a rapidly mounting medical expense.  Our dispatch center regularly takes donations from members to try to help with minor expenses like gas to drive to and from the hospital.  Melanie is very diligent about keeping us updated and set up a website to follow Little Joshua’s struggle to survive and keep everyone informed.

This is a desperate time for Nick and Melanie, their families and this Dispatch family.  I have seen the many good deeds your organization has done for Dispatchers in need.  We wholeheartedly support and applaud your organization and what it stands for.  Any financial assistance for the family would be greatly appreciated.  Please pray for this family.  Nick and Melanie are accepting of any outcome and leave the matter in the hands of a Higher Power.

I have the permission of Nick and Melanie to send this e-mail with the release of the health information.

Thank you for your consideration
