Countess "CC" Carter
Slidell, LA Dispatcher loses part of her home due to fire

Dear 911 CARES,

I would like to make a 911 cares activation for one our dispatchers.  Countess “CC” Carter’s house caught fire today due to an electrical problem.  This happened while she was home sleeping. The fire started in the wall.  When she woke up she went outside and accidentally locked herself out of the house.  She called her son who is also a dispatcher for the City of Covington Fire Dept.  He came home and opened the door to find the house full of thick black smoke.  Had it been just a few more min. later when they opened the door the fire would have likely back drafted as all of the blinds and plastics inside the house were melted.  The fire caused major damage to the kitchen and laundry room area.  The rest of her house has some smoke and water damage.  I know she and her son will need new stuff for the kitchen and also clothes as she was doing the laundry on her day off.  Also if you need and more info please contact me and let me know what all you need and I will get that for you.  If you need to call for any reason my cell phone # is (985) 966-1879.   Thanks!!!!!!!!!

Here is some info on CC: CC has been serving the citizens of St. Tammany Parish for about the last 27 years.  She has worked in dispatch for the Sheriffs Office, the Slidell Police Department, Emergency 1 Ambulance, Acadian Ambulance (who bought out Emergency 1) and then Fire Dist. 1 (Slidell Fire Dept.).  CC has always helped others, she has had adopted and foster children for most of her working career.  She at one point held down two (2) full time jobs to support her and her family!  Her house had damage from Katrina.  She did work during the storm.  People can make checks out to her, Countess Carter.  As far as where to mail them, they can be mailed to my house and I will make sure she gets them.

Thanks!
