Redwood City, CA 9-1-1 CARES ACTIVATION : 911 CARES is starting an activation requesting cards, notes of condolence and donations to a trust fund. Please read the information below and do what you can to offer sympathy to the Indianapolis 9-1-1 Police Dispatch Center . We ask that you PASS THIS E- MAIL to fellow 9-1-1 professionals or POST it to dispatch lists, etc. Also, print a copy and post this in your dispatch center. The facts below have been verified with Indianapolis 9-1-1 and Police. Indianapolis ( Ind. ) dispatcher Brenda Bodie, 52, was killed when she was struck by two cars as she attempted to retrieve her grandchildren's basketball from the street. The 10 p.m. accident happened not far from her home on the east side of town, police said, and one vehicle failed to stop after the accident. The fleeing driver was later identified and arrested, and police charged him with being under the influence of drugs and hit-and-run. Brenda worked for the Metropolitan Emergency Communications Agency, which fields 9-1-1 calls within the county and dispatches for the police department. Brenda was well liked and had been working for about 3 years. She is the primary parent for her two grandchildren. Her grandson, Brendan is 5 years old and her granddaughter Brenda is 3 years old. Sadly, they witnessed the accident and the aftermath. Indianapolis 9-1-1 has set up a trust fund and you can donate to it via the www.911cares.com web site. 100% of donations will be passed on to the account. 911 CARES asks that you not forget the Indianapolis Dispatch 9-1-1 Center.
