PSTC - Request for Cards, Prayer and Support (no financial support)
August 27, 2003

There is an East Coast dispatcher and his wife that are going through hell with the health problems of their very young child. We were alerted to the need for support from a friend and co-worker. At this time, we are just asking that you or your agency send a card, letter or e-mail of support. Prayers and positive thoughts are more than welcome. The story will be first and the address and e-mail to send cards to will follow. Thanks -

Please feel free to print or forward this plea to fellow emergency communicators. Updates will be posted in the www.911cares.com web site.

911 CARES first met Steve Super at the first ever 911 CARES reception that we held for the NYPD and FDNY Dispatchers after the tragedies of Sept 11th, 2001. Steve and his great friend Jeff drove 3+ hours to help us stuff goody bags and greet the many wonderful 9-1-1 professionals at the 911 Cares NY Marriott Reception held for NYPD 911, FDNY Alarm Dispatchers, PAPD Dispatch, FDNY EMS Dispatch and Jersey City PD/Fire Dispatchers. Steve and Jeff gave freely of themselves to thank the many "Voices of September 11th". Steve was very excited about the prospect of being a Dad soon!

Well, Steve and his wife Karen had twins (Jonnah and Jaxson) April 26th 2002. The babies were almost 4 months premature. Shortly after their birth, Jonnah started to deteriorate. While Jaxson grew (with a few complications) Jonnahs lungs would not grow. She was flown to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, New York and admitted into the NICU in the hospital. After a few months at Westchester they moved her to Blackdale Children's Hospital (a few blocks from Westchester Medical) for Rehab. She was there a few months and was doing better so the doctors allowed her to come home. 2 Days home and Jonnah went into Cardiac arrest.

Steve (Who is a Professional Firefighter and a 911 Dispatcher) was home and immediately started CPR on his daughter. They stabilized her at Vassar hospital and flew her to Westchester Medical Center. Again she stayed there on a ventilator and trach. She had some surgeries to help strengthen her diaphram and more vital organs. She then was transferred back to Blakedale. After many many months there, they decided to let her come home on August 21st, 2003. She was gaining weight and doing pretty well. Again, she stopped breathing.

Fortunately again, Steve was home and able to "Bag" her to keep her alive to the hospital. They stabilized her and once again flew her to Westchester Medical were she is in serious but stable condition. Needless to say the toll on Steve and Karen Super is tremendous. Steve and his wife are very drained and depressed. They drive 1 hour each way everyday, sometimes twice a day to the hospital to see there daughter. On a great note Jaxson is home and is doing very well. I had a chance to hold her the other day she is an angel as is Jonnah.

Please send cards and letters or small gifts of support to:
Jeff Noonan 99B
Jackman Drive, Poughkeepsie Ny 12603.

(Jeff is the writer of this plea and he will personally deliver anything you send) The cards and thoughts will be very much appreciated. You may also e-mail bearfafd@aol.com with well wishes. Jeff can also provide updates as needed that we will post.   PSTC and 911 CARES have sent a gas card to the family on behalf of all telecommunicators. With the daily drive and today's gas prices, we know there will be a financial toll.
